The Association of Artificial Intelligence of Latvia (MILA) is pleased to announce that AS "Latvenergo" has joined its ranks – one of the leading energy companies in the Baltics, which creates and develops innovative solutions in energy production, transmission and trade.
AS "Latvenergo" joining MILA confirms the growing interest of the energy sector in using artificial intelligence solutions. The company already actively uses data analytics, automation and forecasting models that help improve energy efficiency, optimize production capacity and ensure stable system operation. Artificial intelligence (AI) provides the opportunity to more accurately predict electricity consumption, market dynamics and support decision-making in real time - aspects that are becoming critical in today's energy sector.
Along with the admission of AS "Latvenergo" to the association, the MILA Council is joined by Ģirts Vikmanis , Director of IT Development and Artificial Intelligence at AS "Latvenergo" . Ģirts has extensive experience in digital transformation and technology development, and the IT development and artificial intelligence function he leads plays a key role in the implementation of innovative solutions in the energy sector.
Oksana Sivokobiļska, Chairwoman of the Board of MILA, says:
"AS "Latvenergo" joining the association is a significant step for the Latvian innovation ecosystem. Artificial intelligence solutions in the energy sector improve both efficiency and the quality of services provided. We appreciate Girts Vikmanis' involvement in the MILA Council and are confident that his experience will help to create a stronger link between the energy industry and artificial intelligence technologies."
Ģirts Vikmanis emphasises: "Our company's membership in MILA confirms the critical interest of the energy sector in artificial intelligence. We have been developing this direction purposefully for more than six years. By creating a unified data warehouse in the group, we laid a strong foundation for further AI development, and today we are already working on a portfolio of about 30 projects. Our data science and AI engineering teams have grown significantly, and today Latvenergo's AI project portfolio is one of the largest and most modern in the Baltics."
The joining of AS "Latvenergo" to MILA provides an opportunity to work together on projects and initiatives that will strengthen the Latvian innovation ecosystem and promote the wider integration of artificial intelligence technologies in the energy sector.
