Mila board member Oksana Sivokobiļska has published a book with Alex Blumenthal, Judgment Capital, which explores how to preserve human critical thinking, professional judgment, and the ability to make independent, responsible decisions in the age of artificial intelligence.

Judgment Capital: How to Preserve Human Judgment in the Age of AI
On November 1, 2026, MILA Council member Oksana Sivokobiļska and Alex Blumenthal released their book Judgment Capital: What Boards Must Preserve When AI Does the Thinking. It highlights a new challenge in the age of artificial intelligence (AI): how organizations can preserve human judgment, critically evaluate AI outputs, and make responsible decisions.
AI is increasingly taking over analysis, problem-solving and decision-preparation tasks. This increases productivity significantly, but at the same time it risks that people gradually lose the opportunity to develop the experience and professional judgment needed to supervise the AI itself.
“We talk a lot about what AI will enable us to do. But it is equally important to understand what human capabilities we need to preserve. Organizations need to learn how to manage this risk as systematically as they manage financial, operational and cybersecurity risks,” Oksana Sivokobiļska emphasizes.
The authors propose the concept of Judgment Capital, which describes the accumulated ability of an organization to make informed and independent decisions. The book analyzes six mechanisms for reducing this capital and offers practical tools to help company management and boards identify and manage the risks of competence loss associated with AI implementation.
The book is not about restricting the use of AI, but about helping organizations to fully exploit the possibilities of technology while maintaining human competence, responsibility and the ability to make quality decisions.
The book is in English.
