At the Public Sector AI Executive Forum, organized by Microsoft and MILA, representatives of the public sector, policymakers, and technology experts discussed the implementation of artificial intelligence in the Latvian public sector. The forum addressed issues of data security, sovereign cloud, AI governance, and practical applications, as well as demonstrated the latest Copilot solutions.

On May 22, 2026, the “Public Sector AI Executive Forum” took place in Riga, organized by Microsoft in cooperation with the Latvian Association for Artificial Intelligence (MILA). The event brought together representatives of the public administration, policymakers and technology companies to discuss the practical implementation of artificial intelligence in the Latvian public sector.
The main goal of the forum was to promote dialogue between the public sector and the technology industry, identifying key challenges in digital transformation, as well as highlighting real-life scenarios for the use of artificial intelligence and opportunities for cooperation.
The event was opened by Microsoft and MILA representatives, while Oksana Sivokobiļska, Chair of the MILA Board, provided an introduction to the role of the association in the Latvian AI ecosystem. The first part of the day focused on sovereign cloud approaches, the readiness of the public sector for the implementation of AI solutions, as well as international trends and directions of technological development.
Microsoft experts presented practical examples and use cases, demonstrating how AI solutions and Copilot technologies can support daily work, document circulation, data analysis, and decision-making in public administration. Special attention was also paid to security aspects, data protection, and M365/E7 architectural approaches for secure AI use in organizations.
During the event, participants had the opportunity to get acquainted with the implementation scenarios available on the adoption.microsoft.com platform, as well as to watch practical demonstrations of the integration of AI solutions into work processes in person.
The forum concluded with a networking session, facilitating direct dialogue between public sector institutions, policymakers, and technology companies. Discussions repeatedly emphasized that successful AI adoption in the public sector is not just a matter of technology—it requires close collaboration, a clear strategy, competence development, and a practical approach to change management.
The event demonstrated the growing interest in implementing AI solutions in the Latvian public sector and the need for closer cooperation between the technology industry, public administration and policymakers to promote a safe, efficient and sustainable digital transformation.
